Recently, in the afternoon of February 11 (Vietnam time), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially brought extremely important information: Esports will have a separate Olympics and will be held in 2027. The location will be in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. According to information from the IOC, there will be an Olympics in 2025 but after consideration, 2027 will be more suitable.
The International Olympic Committee decided to officially announce the Esports Olympics for Electronic Sports will be held at IOC in 2027.
This can be considered an important step for electronic sports. Until now, the electronic sports community has always expected eSports to be considered with traditional sports. However, because it was too young, eSports could only take slow steps.
In 2023, Esports was included in ASIAD 2023. By 2024, Saudi Arabia held a tournament with the same level as the World Cup. According to some judgments from experts as well as in the financial statements, the Saudi ARID tournament has helped many big teams in the Esports village support losses in 2024.
